In the american realm, casino's "Glu", and "exxus(sp)" are both legit casinos... and sry to tell yea people... but it's the only thing to do while waiting to get the item you need... i wouldnt gamble if there was an auction house... but it just gets so boring spamming that channel... after two hours of trying to find the item i wanted... i just bet 20k on one gamble... and then, when i had no money, i felt relieved... I no longer had to sit there trying to find my item, cause i now had no money for it. Problem solved ^.^

Most casinos are in lions arch... and LOTS of people started scamming once they figured out people would actually give them the gold... heh.

I wish they would implement a legit way to gamble within the game if only to curb all the people who spam "+++ CASINO +++" in practically every town and district.

Um, if you guys ever decide to leave Lions Arch or Ascalon City, this won't be an issue. Those are the only 2 places that casinos exist. I've yet to see one in Yaks Bend, Ventaris Refuge, Aurora Glade, Amnoon Oasis, Draknors Forge, Augury Rock etc.

But the sheer fact that they are in these towns is ridiculous. I shouldn't not want to go to a certain town to meet friends, help out other people lower than me, etc just because people saying "Come to Dumb Head's Casino!" over and over again.

Ban Casinos or fix ignore and make the list seperate from the friend's list!

Seen them in all of the above except Droknar's (kinda hard to get far in the game if you are too lazy or too busy begging for $ to ascend), Ventari's and Aurora(not enough people I imagine).

The casino thing needs to go away. My solution: get a screen capture of the announcement, login into AE support, report a rules violation with names and attaching the screen capture backing it up. I figure if I (and others) do it enough, AE will get the picture and do something about it.

I just fail to understand the why of the casinos. The amount of money you can have is capped. The game isn't anything about gambling. You can have all the money you want, but that isn't going to help you quest, beat the game, or ascend.

I just don't understand why you would pay $50 for a game to get fake money that doesn't get you any closer to playing or completing the game.

If they should make a "casino" channel... they should make a "whining" section for this forum *smirks* I've never gambled in GW but who really cares?

People enjoy games of chance, its a little thrill and excitement. People have enjoyed gambling for a very, very long time. A little ingame accomidation for gambling would be nice.

There are, of course, problems.

If there is indeed a window people can setup and put in a "bank" of gold that gets depleted or increased based on wins and losses, then what's to keep players from rampantly putting up casinos all over the district? They'd pop up like wildflowers. This could be just as annoying, nor would it stop channel spam for casino ads. It would, atleast, make it reliable.

What about an npc that does it? Well this leaves som eof the fun and excitement out of the person to person contact, that can make gambling more enjoyable. Although it is a feasable option, it doesn't completely remove the ---BOBOS CASINO - MIN BET 100 MAX 1000 - 65+ 2x 95+ 3x---- etc crap we see right now, alot of times more often then we want. It is also, however, the easiest to create option. A newbie scripter could likely make one in 30 minutes.

However an actual casino building / town has given excitement of the locale, the possibility of much more variety in games - aside from just rolling. It helps remove spam slightly more then the previous, simply because people who wish to gamble and know about this location, will go there to do so. Likewise, the gambling scammers will still hang around other towns.

Here is my proposition (which is a bit of a conglomoration of all the ideas).

An expansion includes a casino/gambling town, with additional games of chance to entertain the fateful fancies of the players. Games like these are by no means difficult to make, and give them a little something else to do with their money. As well, make the likelyhood of expanding some of those very games into a guild hall a possibility too. Personal blackjack table, anyone?

In addition to the town, player sustained gambling can be done via a window, with die rolls made inside the window presented over the character's head, not in the chat channel. This still allows people to see who gets what (for the ooh aah or DAMMIT factor). It doesn't end there though, oh no! To operate and host this window, the player must purchase a license. And a license for each town. ( I would put one in pre-searing, just to help prevent scammers from cheating the little people of their hard earned 100 gold. )

Also, make players AWARE of the license npcs, and the gambling town asap (in post searing ascalon if possible, as well as mention it numerous times along their travels). This helps assure them that there is an official location for this, and in the mean time they need to conserve their gold. Not everyone will do it, some may even aspire to goto that town one day.

I really like minigames, even if they're just simple games of chance.

Any of you who've ever played EQ may remember that players spamming for casinos became a fairly large issue. /Ignore became useless to a certain point, because all the person had to do was create as many new characters as they could think up names for, deleting the old ones etc...

What ended up happening is they made it offical that player casinos were no longer allowed, but to satisfy the very very small minority of players who chose to participate they added an in-game casino.

Personally I wish that casinos would be banned from this game, based primarily on the fact that it's disruptive to general game play for the majority of players. Towns / outposts are our only area to interact with a large number of players outside of our own guild, and its exceedingly annoying that as the player base grows, so does the amount of spam for this sort of thing, especially given that /ignore currently doesn't filter any of it.

I understand that there are those players who think the casinos are all fine and good, but it's disruptive to the vast majority of people. I read one post where it was suggested that you just check off the general chat ... but all that does is give the right to disrupt game play to the few, while the rest have to suffer through it ... and again, since towns/ outposts are the only places in the game to interract with large numbers of players, is it really a fair fix to expect them to give that up ?

Ban casinos ~ it's disruptive to general game play for the vast majority of your customers. Period.

Honestly, as long as the spam and other such crap is disposed of, I do not care what kind of casinos still exist (I don't use them. if they don't annoy me, not my problem )

and that equates to gambling!?!

So what money is sitting in the vault? Spend it on the cool looking 15k armor. Fund the things that your other 3 characters need.

I'm not sure what logic you are applying here, but it certainly doesn't make sense.
